Florence confirms once again how the city of wonders.

Recent excavations run under the the floor of the Baptistery, They have unearthed the remains of a temple dedicated to Mars the fifth century, but it would not be a church pay, but a votive monument erected on occasion and in memory of the victory brought the barbarians Radagaiso in 406, an epic episode also quoted by Sant'Agostino in CITY OF GOD.

The Baptistery became a Christian and took on its present aspect in the period between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries (Photo gives: janfrind.altervista.org).
