Roman legionaries

Roman legionaries

We have always considered legionaries in ancient times as the men from the life and Spartan habits, but maybe we were wrong.

It was not to hurt passersela, at least judging by the remains found at strong Novae (today Svistov), in Bulgaria, the Roman soldiers sent to the eastern front empire; in that an area team of archaeologists from the University of Warsaw in fact, recently discovered a treasure consisting of hundreds of coins and valuable objects in bone, bronze, glass and horns belonged to them, well preserved despite the remote dating, including between the first and sixth centuries. d.C.

The same research also led to the discovery of remains of a house inhabited by a centurion, whose rich furnishings and even the presence of a Balneum (term) private, suggests an existence far arranged and modest (Photo gives: soldatiromanideltardoimpero.blogspot.com).
