Surfing the net I came across the interesting video found at the bottom of the page: solo three minutes to tell the life of Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, better known as Madame de Pompadour, famous favorite of King Louis XV and certainly one of the most famous lovers in history.
The Pompadour was certainly a woman far too ambitious and not always free from the art of the intrigue that made the Palace of Versailles a den of snakes, but equally no doubt it was a gift out of the ordinary intelligence, which allowed her not only to get to the top, but also to influence, almost always positive, an entire era.
Cultured and brilliant, with his wise counsel Madame de Pompadour was the real architect of some of the most sensible sovereign fickle decisions, who I do not ever considered only as a pleasant lover, but as his most trusted friend and confidant, one of the very few people at court on which he could really count.
not noble (The Marquis was a “present” Louis XV) and in poor health since childhood, the Pompadour died just 43 years consumed by those lung problems that has always plagued.
Video (adapted from youtube.com) which as mentioned only lasts 3 minutes, It is in English, but also thanks to words that appear over video, it is quite easy to understand even for those unfamiliar with this language (Photo gives: nationalgallery.org.uk).
